Surfing is a fast growing sport at Open Box, when the water isn’t freezing – a rare event here on the West Coast. We have a small group of casual surfers and body-boarders who, for reasons unknown, sometimes take it upon themselves to wake up in the wee hours of the morning and head off to Muizenberg for an icy, pre-work session. Typical back-line activities include chilling, talking about sharks, watching at least one person not making it to the backline (again), and occasionally catching waves. Sometimes we even manage to get to work on time, but it’s not a big deal if we don’t because the boss is usually with us. The office also comes equipped with a nice warm shower, which is a serious bonus.
Anyone interested in joining us is more than welcome.We have a few spare long boards lying around, and the only thing you really need is a wetsuit. Unless you’ve been surfing off Blouberg all your life, in which case a Speedo will do.
