26-28 September 2008
About 20 of us went up to Hermanus for the weekend under false pretence that we would all run the 21km Whale Half Marathon. Other than a couple that did end up running it (full respect to them), quite a few ended up doing the 6km fun run. Some might say that 6km isn’t worth waking up at 5am for, but that’s all subjective.
After the run on Saturday morning, a few of us went whale watching, a few went walking along the beach, a few went wine tasting in the Hemel & Aarde valley, and a few did absolutely nothing at all – and they claim to have had the best afternoon.
Saturday evening was a perfect sunset over the Overberg mountains, with some of the guys jamming all the favourite guitar tunes (harmonicas and beer-bottle-flutes included), whilst others were playing guitar hero in the background. A bunch more of us showed up and it ended up being a great party. Sunday was spent mostly chilling on the beach, and those of us who stayed till lunch found an awesome spot in Onrus where we set ourselves up for a great Sunday-afternoon nap.
